Chris Gotterba assists clients in commercial and employment litigation, contract formation, and leads the firm practice on eDiscovery and litigation management.
Mr. Gotterba brings a unique perspective to litigation work, combining hands-on large scale eDiscovery experience with deep knowledge of the commercial agreements and business relationships that often form the basis of contract disputes.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Gotterba served in several in-house transactional positions, where he negotiated complex commercial agreements and managed vendor relationships for Silicon Valley startups, small businesses, and large financial institutions. He developed expertise in negotiating SaaS agreements, NDAs, master service agreements, professional services agreements, and consulting contracts.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Gotterba spent several years leading eDiscovery teams on major commercial litigation matters including complex financial services class actions, billion-dollar patent infringement lawsuits, and regulatory investigations.
Chris earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from UCLA. He is admitted to practice in California.
Based in San Francisco, Chris is a driving enthusiast and member of the Porsche Club of America, where he participates in autocross events and precision driving exercises. He enjoys exploring the Bay Area’s restaurant scene, often reverse-engineering dishes at home to perfect techniques and flavor profiles. Chris is also passionate about craft cocktails and is the proud winner of the Buena Vista’s completely meaningless DIY Irish Coffee contest—an achievement he considers his greatest contribution to San Francisco’s culinary landscape.
